Be A Cool Cat This Summer
When heatwaves strike we are all at risk of heatstroke and other heat related health issues, and of course, just feeling generally lackluster and lethargic. Here are my top tips for keeping safe and cool this summer.
Drink cucumber water by simply adding sliced cucumber to fresh water. Cucumber gives the water a fresh taste, but is also incredibly hydrating in itself, so once your drink your water, nibble the cucumber for a hydrating, fresh and crunchy snack! I also like to add sliced peeled lemons sometimes.
Don't chug glasses of water, regularly sip throughout the day.
Choose cold, fresh meals; such as cold cuts of meat with salads, chilled soups, fruit platters with yoghurt, and raw veggies with a cooling dip.
Close curtains leaving a little daylight gap, then open windows at opposite ends of your property to allow a through breeze.
Stock up on freezable gel pillows and eye masks for relief; equally you can simply wet a flannel with cold water and pat over your face and around your neck for instant relief!
Invest in a good quality fan.
Sleep with a crisp, thin cotton sheet.
Wear loose clothing in natural breathable fabrics; such as cotton and linen.
Keep your activity level low and avoid going outdoors in peak heat between 11am and 3pm if at all possible.
